Established since 2019, Mount Surf School has been changing the status quo in the industry, pioneering new teaching methods, programs & courses for kids.

In that time we’ve taught thousands of young Kiwis (international students too) how to stay safe in the ocean, as well as instil the love of surfing into their lives.

With numerous schools from around the Bay of Plenty (and further afield) entrusting us with the wellbeing and safety of their kids, we’re proud to be able to offer our services to more and more schools that look to a professional organisation they can trust.

Whether it’s primary, intermediate, high school or international students, we’re here to ensure you have the best time ever, at one of the safest beaches to learn surfing in the country.

Peace of mind

• Comprehensive RAMS procedure. Our risk assessment documents are updated regularly and available by request.
• Public liability insurance. All activities are covered by our public liability insurance up to $1 million.
• Real-time safety assessments. We monitor ocean conditions to ensure safety at all times.
• Qualified team. Our team are comprehensively trained Level 1 surf instructors holding current first aid certificates and lifesaving accreditations.

Primary schools (ages 5–10)

An engaging and memorable school outing for primary students. Our surf lessons offer a unique opportunity for kids to develop new skills, build confidence, and connect with the natural world.

Our experienced instructors prioritise safety while creating a fun and supportive learning environment. We specialise in accommodating large school groups, making the planning process easy for you.

Intermediate (ages 11–13)

An exciting opportunity for young students to push their boundaries, develop resilience, and experience the exhilaration of riding a wave. Beyond the fun, they’ll gain valuable ocean safety knowledge and build teamwork skills.

Our expert instructors tailor the lessons to suit all abilities, ensuring a positive and rewarding experience for every student.

High schools (ages 13–18)

More than just a day at the beach. These group lessons are an opportunity for students to develop resilience, build teamwork, and experience the thrill of conquering a wave.

Our expert instructors provide tailored instruction for all skill levels, from first-timers to experienced surfers. We specialise in accommodating large school groups and can customise a program to fit your curriculum and student needs.

International schools (all ages)

Looking for a truly unforgettable cultural immersion activity for your international students? Introduce them to the iconic Kiwi lifestyle with a surfing adventure.

Our international group surf lessons offer a unique opportunity for students to experience the thrill of riding a wave while learning about ocean safety and the local environment. We can tailor our programs to complement your educational goals.
