WHAT TO EXPECT
This holidays we're running a program for kids that love the ocean, beach and the outdoors - that want to hang out with a crew of other likeminded groms, learn ocean safety, surf skills, and awareness - and play all day long.
Running from Monday - Friday from the Mount Surf School HQ at Mount Main Beach - we have unrivalled access to one of the best locations in the country for kids to play in - and around - the ocean all day long.
Yes it's out of control fun, and there'll be heaps of surfing going down, but it's educational too.
We've created a program where kids will learn how to handle themselves in the surf and stay safe whatever the conditions, why waves break, how they're formed, how tides work, and much more.
Each day the group build their ocean skills, increase their confidence, and learn a bunch in the process.
So if you're a working parent, or on vacation looking for something fun, educational, and safe to nurture your kids this holidays, then this could well be the solution for you.

All equipment; Surfboards & Wetsuits are provided in-house, free of charge.
However if you have your own equipment, feel free to bring that along too.
FAQ'S
No prior experience is necessary! Our lessons cater to absolute beginners.
Safety is our top priority. Our instructors are certified in first aid, CPR, and surf rescue. We also use beginner-friendly soft boards and teach in safe, supervised conditions to Surfing NZ ration guidelines.
If the conditions aren’t suitable for surfing, we’ll reschedule the lesson or provide alternative beach activities.
Bad weather doesn't affect us in any way. We're on the beach getting wet anyway, so we embrace it all.
Many kids do manage to stand up during their first lesson! However, our focus is on building skills and having fun rather than rushing progress.
Absolutely! You’re welcome to watch from the beach and cheer your child on.
21 Days notice is required to cancel your booking.
Upon cancellation you have the option to either receive a refund minus 30% administration/setup costs, or you can opt for a 100% credit note to be used towards the same booked service at the next available dates offered with the Mount Surf School.
Less than 14 days notice no refund and full credit issued less 40% administration costs.
Less than 7 days notice, no refund or credit is available.

My son's (6 and 9) had the most amazing time this week at Mount Surf School! They started with a private lesson from Giacomo, who they utterly adored and who ignited their love of surfing. Then they moved onto the holiday surf school programme with Joshua, Giacomo and team over the next couple of days where they surfed up a storm, making friends with other groms and having a blast while also achieving loads of surf goals such as catching their own waves, solo, after only 3 days. Cannot praise these guys enough. Such a fantastic team 💥 We will definitely be back next year!
