HIGHLIGHTS

The weekend course is broken up into x4 blocks (AM & PM over two days), with each block split into three sessions:

THEORY

This is where we go into detail learning new skills, ready for application in the water. We follow a roadmap with pre-defined outcomes to get you to your destination as fast as possible over the weekend.

IN-WATER TUITION

You’ll have assistance in-water should you need it at all times. Our trained instructors will be on hand to provide real-time feedback, offer advice, and showcase demonstrations.

VIDEO ANALYSIS

All the action in the water is filmed, ready for frame by frame dissection by our qualified instructors. With slow-mo and zoom we’re able to find any blindspots that are holding you back, uncover any technical frailties, and give you crystal clear feedback from which to improve.

We rinse and repeat this format over the whole weekend and the transformations we’ve witnessed have been incredible,
just check out some of our reviews.

FAQ'S

HOW DO I KNOW IF I'M THE RIGHT LEVEL FOR THIS COURSE?

The Progressor Course is for Level 2 surfers.

A level 2 surfer is someone that has the basic skills developed already. You should be:

- Catching whitewater waves unassisted.

- Beginning to catch small unbroken waves.

- Be able to pop to your feet and ride waves to the beach consistently.

Still not sure if you're the right level for this course? If so, go check out our 'What Level am I' page.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE WAVES ARE BAD?

We'd love to say we can guarantee perfect waves every weekend, however the truth is, that's not possible.

We're at the whim of mother nature, and we'll embrace it in all its forms.

Furthermore, the way the content is structured - with the theory & video analysis - the quality of the waves effects us little in the learning process.

We make the most of whatever conditions we have on offer.

WHAT HAPPENS IN BAD WEATHER?

Come wind, rain, hail or shine, we're ready to go.

Surfing is a sport that embraces all the elements, and we do too.

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT'S FLAT?

If conditions are deemed too flat to run the weekend course we will be forced to postpone the event.

We'll make this call no later than 24 hours prior to the course start date.

Booked students will be allocated spaces in a future course date to complete the program.

Because of this, we recommend booking accommodation with a flexible cancellation policy just in case.

WHAT IF CONDITIONS ARE TOO DANGEROUS TO SURF?

If the beaches are closed and conditions are too dangerous for us to hold the weekend course, we'll be forced to postpone the event.

We'll make this call no later than 24 hours prior to the course start date.

Booked students will be allocated spaces in a future course date to complete the program.

Because of this, we recommend booking accommodation with a flexible cancellation policy just in case.

HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE THERE IN THE GROUP?

The exact numbers of the group will vary, however we have a maximum group size of eight people.

WILL THE WEEKEND EVER GET CANCELLED?

Courses may get cancelled (no later than 24hours before the start date) due to the following reasons:

- Flat conditions: Waves are too small for us to hold the event.

- Dangerous conditions: Beaches have been closed and conditions are too dangerous.

Because of this, we recommend booking accommodation with a flexible cancellation policy just in case.

WHERE SHOULD I STAY?

If you're booking accommodation for the weekend you'll want to make sure that you're booking somewhere with a flexible cancellation, just in case conditions don't permit the weekend to be run.

The best options to check are:

Airbnb, Book A Batch, Booking.com, Hostel World.

Thanks again for a great weekend everyone. I especially enjoyed all the support as a collective group, and whilst totally confronting I found watching and analysing the video’s attached to Rowan and Loz’s theory of everyone’s sessions was so useful. The sessions provided a lot to think about and aim for.My most favourite by far was meeting all you lovely folk and of course the dolphin breaching out of the water on Sat avo. Thanks to Rowan and Loz and all the group.

Loz and Rowan are great instructors and the weekend course was really helpful as well as good fun.  They had keen insight into what improvements were needed and offered excellent tips to assist me become a better surfer.  The photo sessions were a big help, too.  If you want to level up your surfing then I recommend you take the course.

Rebecca Coldicutt

Hands down the best weekend surfing I've had ever. Loz and Rowan are incredibly talented coaches, and their combo of land and water based instruction saw me progress more in two days than I have in years. I really can't recommend them highly enough.

Just completed a Longboarding course with House of Surf over the weekend and it honestly exceeded all my expectations. Rowan and Roz spent both days with us teaching us in great detail all the foundations of longboarding. With their care, great balance of theory and practice in the water, and their catered adjustments and advice, we all made very visible progress within just 48 hours. I would recommend their services for anyone with different skill levels and goals for surfing. I can't wait to be back in Tauranga to visit again.

I can highly recommend the 2 day longboard boost course through House of Surf!!
I had the b set weekend and even got my cross stepping down - wtf?! Rowan nd Loz (hope I’m spelling correctly) are incredible instructors and run courses in Auckland and the Mt. Your surfing will absolutely improve and you’ll also meet a bunch of amazing people.

Louise Corrie

Had a beautiful weekend away in the Mount with the House of Surf on the longboarder foundations course.
I’ve done 2 of their weekend boost courses now and they’re jam packed full of info dedicated to getting more women in the water… well worth a get away to the mount if you want to up-skill… Couldn’t recommend these legends more.
