LET'S GET YOU SET UP...
We're frothing to have you onboard the team at the Mount Surf School and we're pumped to work together with you to share the sport of surfing with more people.
But before we get to the fun stuff of jumping in the water and coaching, we first need you to get set up.
It won't take long I promise, but there's just a few important things for you to do to make sure everything runs along smoothly.
Follow the steps below to get set up:
STEP1: ACCESS YOUR BOOKING SYSTEM ACCOUNT
We use a system called Fareharbour to manage all bookings that come into the surf school.
Coaches are able to view lessons they're booked into, client information, and set the days they're able to work.
Naturally the more days you’re available for work, and the more flexible you are, the more work you’ll get.
Furthermore, the system prioritises coaches that put their hand up for work more often.
And a whole heap more.
We’ve should have created a Viking account for you already (if not let us know and we'll get you set up), and you can access it using the details below:
Go log yourself in right now, have a look around and kick the tyres a bit. Get used to the different areas, how it works, how to set your available hours and all that good stuff.
And remember to save your login details somewhere safe, as you’ll need them for access.

STEP 2: COMMUNICATION - COACHES TELEGRAM GROUP
Naturally, we need an efficient way to communicate with all our staff, and for that we use Telegram.
What is Telegram?
It's very similar to Facebook Messenger - with all the same features you'd expect, but instead of selling all your information to the highest bidder, Telegram is 100% encrypted, and your data is safe.
We like to support projects like this, hence why it's the default communication channel for all our staff at the Mount Surf School.
Inside Telegram we'll share Weekly Rosters, important info about lessons, reach out for booking availability and a whole lot more.
It's a free app, and getting set up is easy (takes under 1minute).
And if you like having access to this sort of stuff on your desktop (I know I do), you can download the desktop version too whilst your at it.
So go ahead and get yourself set up on the Telegram app, then add us as a contact.

Once you’ve done that, we’ll add you to the ‘Coaches’ Group.
STEP 3: ACCESSING THE COACHING PORTAL
Pretty much everything we do has a structure and a system to follow:
The only thing that doesn’t have a full structure right now are our private lessons and kids school holiday program (but we're working on that).
This makes things super easy as each week, and each session is already planned out and ready to go for you before you hit the beach, saving you any last minute scratching around for things to teach.
All of this coaching material is located inside our coaching portal, which you can access using the details below:
As a coach you're expected to know what to teach at each session you take, so you'll need to check in with the online portal to see what you're teaching and when.
Even if you are not leading the session you're still expected to know the lesson plan regardless.
So, save these login details to your phone so that you can check them quickly before each session.
We expect all our coaches to fully understand the material we teach, and the way it's taught, so do spend the time to get familiar with the material before each lesson.
STEP 4: GETTIG PAID - HOW IT WORKS, WHEN IT HAPPENS AND HOW MUCH?
You are employed as a contractor at the Mount Surf School, and that means you have to invoice us for the work you do.
Sounds complicated I know but it’s actually real simple.
The best way to do it (the way we recommend) is to use an app called HNRY.
It only takes a few minutes to set up - link your bank details and a few other bits - and once that’s done the invoicing process is super simple.

The payment rates for our coaches are different depending upon a few different factors:

WHEN DO I GET PAID?
We process payroll every Monday, which means you’ll need to send us through your invoice with hours worked for the week every Sunday.
