YOUR INSIDE RAIL HOLDS THE KEY

If you want to be successful with cross stepping then one thing to play special attention to is engaging, and holding your inside rail to the wave.

Without the proper engagement of the inside rail the board can't stick or hug the wave, which makes cross-stepping very difficult.

Get it locked in however, and the rest all starts to fall into place.

WHY IT'S IMPORTANT?

Locking-in your inside rail is pivotal in riding waves in zone 1, and it's in this zone that the best, most effective cross-stepping can take place.

In this zone we can create a bigger imbalance in the centre-point, and we can also utilise the coandă effect whereby the rails grip into the wave face - adding downward pressure - allowing you to walk further up the board.

WRAPPING IT UP

If you can get your inside rail locked into the wave face, you'll be creating a solid technical foundations from which to begin cross-stepping.

Easier said than done, granted.

However get this step right and the rest should begin to fall into place.
